Meet Your Neighbors – Ms. Essie

Ms. Essie Wade is a known fixture in her Harlem community and, at 93 years old, she is still very active. She has lived in the Mannie Wilson Towers for 28 years, is a street vendor and sells a variety of things (see photo for a sample of her work). She looks forward to the LiLY jewelry group that meets in her building every Monday. For years, every Sunday she cooked dinner for her church congregation, and she also regularly volunteered to assist with building events and activities.
