A NEW ADDITION TO RIVERSIDE PARK

Mario Riservato worked for over two years to bring pickleball to our neighborhood, and now the Riverside Park Conservancy has provided us with five wonderful, under the trees, river-view courts down below 110 St. Pickleball started as ‘senior+’ family sport in the Seattle area several years ago. Originally, retired tennis players were drawn to the new sport, though now much younger demographics are playing as well, and it can sometimes be difficult to find an open court. “When too many of them gather,” said Mario, “I say out loud, ‘Don’t they have any other sports to play?’” He continued to say: “I seem to be the oldest player. I took this picture the day before I celebrated being 86 years young.” The pickleball courts are free and have access to water and bathrooms, with no reservations required.
