KEEP WALKING IF YOU CAN

All the experts tell us that there are endless benefits to walking–from reducing blood pressure to strengthening our immune systems, muscles, and bones…including elevating our mood. If your doctor gives you the okay, why not start a daily walking program with a ten- minute walk, and see how you feel. The pace doesn’t have to be strenuous for you to reap the benefits. Stop if you feel you cannot talk without losing your breath. If you don’t tire, add five minutes a day until you reach at least the half-hour mark. If you’d like a LiLY volunteer to walk with you, as did Mrs. Eskin above, give Paula a call at (646) 734-0182. If you can’t walk, you may well benefit from using a set of indoor exercise foot peddles that you can manipulate as you sit in a chair. If you search on the internet you’ll see a hundred models with prices starting as low as $29, similar to those to the right. A great winter sport for anyone!
