Thank you note’s to LiLY from elders, volunteers, and families

“Dearest Paula and Everyone at LiLY,
We are so grateful for you and the compassion, grace and love that you extended to our mother Sandra at such as stressful time!!!
Mom loved you and the LiLY organization as family members. And over the years, her talents (writing and crocheting) were not dormant but highlighted by the many volunteers that showed graciousness. God bless all of you.
Our love always,”  – Lovell, Kim Byrd and Kenia Byrd..

“I just wanted to let you know how much it has meant to me to be able to volunteer with Ms. E. It’s hard being so far away from my family, and I really feel like visiting with her has made me feel more connected and like part of a community. Thank you so much for everything you do. Thank you for helping me be a part of this work.” – Volunteer Emily Alverson

“Thank you so much for making me part of the LiLY family. It has been an extremely enriching experience. A special thank you for introducing me to two wonderful ladies, Ms M. and Ms B. Both of them have been pillars of support for me in the past 10 months.” – Volunteer Pouja SIngh

“I can’t thank you enough for the outpouring of love.  May this year 2017 be one of wealth, happiness and prosperity to you. With love and gratitude yours” – Elder, Irene F. at 106 years old.

“I phoned and spoke with Irene last week. Myself with a small group are in the process of forming a Village following LiLY’s Building a Village Guide. I am so grateful I found your work. We are currently in the process of writing our by-laws and articles of organization. Thank you so much for you support and help. You have no idea how many life you enrich by your web site.”  –
Clif P.

“When I am in NY and walking with Amy  in her neighborhood we always meet one of the Volunteers, which amazes me in such a big city. Sometimes she cannot remember their names, but she speaks about them with great respect and admiration. You can imagine that I am so grateful to all of LiLY’s volunteers making Amy so happy.” –  Elder’s second cousin, living in Amsterdam

“Thank you so much for the luncheon at LeMonde.  It was wonderful.  My candle is lit for breakfast just now.  What a great idea!” – Elder Margaret K.

“Thank you for all your help!  I know my aunt would never be able to manage without your help.  Happy New Year!”  – Kathy Kahng

“Never will I forget how the last years of Bill’s life were saved by LiLY”  – Janet Broff.

“My mother became gravely infirmed in the year leading up to her death in the summer of 2015. LiLY…was there to bridge the gap between fractured service organisations, means testing regimes, health plans, financial plans, service commissioners, and service providers, each operating with a snowstorm of proformas, and operating to different deadlines and timetables, to different standards and criteria…..Engaging, creative, strategic, original, Lily is one of the faces of humanity in an increasingly commodified world.” – Excerpt from a letter by Lorens Holm (December 16) 2016

“LiLY… matched my mother with excellent home health aides who suited her needs and disposition,…. a challenge in the best of circumstances but impossible for me at such a distance.  …Volunteers monitored their work on their regular visits and shared their impressions with me in emails and phone calls… Moreover, when I came to New York, the Morningside group smoothed my visits with their support and kindness. It was painful seeing my mother’s decline, but a relief to spend time with those who understood.

In addition to boosting my mother’s moral, the volunteers provided countless other practical services…like sorting the mail and helping with home management.  I cannot imagine how I could have survived this time without the constant support of the volunteers of LiLY’s Morningside Village community.  They have truly made a difference for my mother, for me, and for so many others, and I am infinitely grateful.” – Ann Cumming
